Mass Wasting Hazards

There are many different types of mass wasting that occur in India. Because of all of the mountains, there are many cases of mudslides and rock falls. Just in 2018, there was a huge mudslide in the NorthEast mountains of India that killed 9 people. The mudslide was triggered by the heavy rains and was nearly impossible to stop.

June to September is monsoon season in India, so they begin to prepare for the heavy rains, mudslides, and rockfalls. In order to protect themselves from these mass wasting hazards, they make sure to put extra dirt piles on the mountains and nets where the rocks would fall in an attempt to decrease the danger. Televisions, radios, and radars are used to alert people when these natural disasters are about to hit, and what safety precautions they should take

Below is a picture of the mudslide in 2018.
