Coastal Erosion

Over the past 26 years, almost one-third of India's coast line has been eroded due to natural causes such as cyclones and waves, along with human caused erosion such as construction. That's a huge portion! The highest levels of erosion were found in West Bengal. Coastal erosion can be very dangerous and it's importance for India to keep its citizens notified when needed.

This erosion has caused significant decreases in people living on the coastline, farming/agriculture being done near the coastline, a bigger use of harbors for fishermen. People are alerted when the tide is in too close, and hazard warnings are alerted when necessary to keep everyone safe.

  1. It is crazy how human work can cause erosion to a country! I'm glad they are keeping people safe by hazard warnings and alerts. Thank you for sharing!
