Extreme Weather

India is effected by many different types of extreme weather. Some of these include floods, hail storms, thunderstorms, heat waves, cold waves, and droughts. This can have a huge negative impact on the economy in India, as a significant amount of their economy comes from their agriculture. In the recent years, India has become dryer and hotter than it's ever been in history in result of climate change. Some of the best ways for India to preserve their land is to build stronger buildings, plant more trees to cover loose ground, harvest rainwater, and save as much water as possible.

  1. Great post Gabrielle, Do you know if India is working on any of the ideas you mention to preserve their land. I especially like the idea of planting more trees and harvesting rain water. Tokyo has built a massive underground water complex of channels that collects water, though it was constructed to protect from constant flooding by collecting flood water and pumping it out to rivers that take it to sea. The same idea may be something that can be used by India to harvest water and use it for irrigation of crops.

  2. Hi Gabriel! Thank you so much for your post. I do not know anything about India's climate, so I appreciate you enlightening us. it sure doesn't sound like India has the ideal climate! With hail storms, thunderstorms, heat waves, cold waves, and droughts I am wondering when the most ideal time to visit is! A lot of people try to suppress the seriousness of climate change, but it is really alarming how much it is effecting the world's ecosystem. Those are some really good suggestions of how India can preserve there land better.

  3. Hey Gabrielle! The country I study is Nepal, exactly right above your chosen country of India! It was fascinating seeing their side of the river. Although Nepal does suffer from the heat in some areas, it is the amount of Rainfall that mainly affects the entire population of Nepal in contrast to your chosen countries present hazards with the ongoing rise in temperature.
